Hi everybody,
I was told that I had a week to decide if I like my new family, so I wanted to send you a report.
It has been a crazy week, I am a bit stressed, there are so many
things to learn. I have to tell you being allowed to walk out in the forest without a leash is great but Blue told me it has a big
responsibility. Your parents always have to be able to see you, if you can‘t see them, they can’t see you. So I have to look back all the time.
Friday Evening
We had a great dinner, and that night I got to sleep in their bed. I was told it was a one-time deal since it was my first night.

Saturday
We took a very long hike at an old boy scout camp. It was great flat land with trees and I could run as fast as I could. The best part was I graduated to the 200 foot distance, I can now run 200 feet away before I have to stop running. Saturday afternoon we played fetch in the back yard, I beat Blue every time I don’t think he was used to running as fast as I can. That evening we got bacon bits on top of the dinner, that was so good. Blue inhaled his dinner but I take my time so I can enjoy it. We also got some special vitamins that will help us not hurt in the morning. One little bad part, that stupid thing the vet did to me is a little infected. My new parents put all kinds of stuff on the infection and I now feel a lot better.
Sunday
You are not going to believe. My parents spent all morning cleaning the house, Blue said it was no big deal people are going to come over. Well at noon they started putting out food right at my nose height and they told me I could not have it. “HELLO” it is right at my nose. I was being really, really good, I thought it was ok to smell it but NO!!! Man, that is hard for a boy like me, I love food, but I did not take any, not even a little.
14 people came to the house, which was great, they all liked me, I made them take turns petting me, I also let Blue get petted. I was so good.
When they were eating I did not beg from anybody and I got a lot of complements. A couple of times Blue and I were told to go in the kitchen where we got a treat. That was worth it.
Then all the people had to look at what they called art, fortunately my Dad Finn, took Blue and me for a long hike in the mountains instead. I don’t care about art.
For dinner we got a combination of wet and dry with bacon fat juice, they tell me it is good for my coat and I don’t mind eating it.
Tonight we watched a movie – I don’t know what that is. During the movie I was bored so I invented a fun game. I roll my
tennis ball under a sofa so I can’t reach it, then Carol or Finn have to get it out. I think of it as reversed fetch. They don’t think it is fun so after I did it five times they took the ball away. I hope I will get it back.
Monday
My infection is almost gone so that is good. I also got my ball back. I had 5 other balls but this one was my favorite. Today was very quiet. We spent most of the day at home. We did take a walk in the afternoon.
Carol and Finn had a meeting down at the club but Blue and I could not go. I can’t believe it they don’t allow dogs down there, I will have to talk to them about that it is just not fair. When it got dark Blue and I were going upstairs to go to bed and a chair had fallen down and was blocking the stairs. We both managed to jump over the chair and get upstairs. It was a bit dangerous but we both managed. Carol and Finn should check on those things before they leave home but I am sure they will see it when they get home.
Tuesday – Thursday
We are getting into a pattern, we get to go for a walk everyday and we chase balls. I am having a great time. Thursday we were left alone for 4 hours but we could go out on the deck so we could see what was going on down on the street. I got Carol with a great practical joke; when we were alone I took 5 of my tennis balls and put them in her bed under the covers. I kept one ball so I could play with it when she got home. She did not find out until she went to bed. She was very surprised!

Friday
This morning we are packing up because we are going down to spend the weekend at Carol’s parent’s house. They live in Orange County and they have a big pool that we are allowed to swim in. I heard Blue is not a good swimmer so I will teach him. This should be a fun trip.

You found me a great family and I decided I’m staying. Give my best to all the other dogs.
Thanks for everything (except the vet thing).
